Custom Project!

Me and my friends are building a top sevret R/C prototype. Now before all you HONCHO'S lock the thread because of it's relevance, please let me get this out.

Specs:
Engine: 6.5 Techumseh FH, W/ custom supercharger shroud and exhaust. Estimated boost to 9 HP at 4,200 RPM (3,800 stock) The RPM boost comes from, well, hacking off the governer! (Remember Don't Do This At Home! All you older members will remember my previous occupation, I know what I'm doing!)

Chassis:
Ladder frame made from 1" square tube.
5' long
3' wide

Drive:
Rear LTV VARIDRIVE lawn tractor axle from Craftsman. NO SUSPENSION IN REAR! 2SPD MANUAL W/ SINGLE DISK BRAKE!
Front solid axle, spring articulate, also from tractor, but with our own spring system.
Centrifugal belt driven clutch.
Power Wheels motor and trannsmission attached to tie rod. AKA: Gear driven, 850 fan cooled motor, 6-12 Volt

So far, we have the axles, spring, and a wodden mock up chassis done, the engine is done and all that is left is the custom radiator and echaust.

Oh yeah! The radiator!

I took a bunch of copper fittings, soldered an S shaped thing, and put ends on it, then took an old motor case from a box fan, and put the turbine from a Shop Vac into it and I am going to hook it up to an R/C car motor for a water pump. I am going to get copper sheets and use them to go over the S shaped radiator. All I need to do with that is seal the pump, seal the sylinder and head, and get the copper sheets. We need this thing to be cooled good, it is revving higher, and doing something it isn't meant for. I will post pics of it soon, I just can't find the cord from m y camera to my PC!

Damn camera cost a grand and I can't find the cord. I am so dumb!

Anyways, I know there are some sceptics out there, but please, keep in mind, I have been here a long, long time, I remember when Mully modelled cars, and I have never lied, so no derogatory posts calling me a liar, it already happened on another forum, and I signed up just to tell them that too!

sounds like my kind of toy

You really should consider some rear suspension, make a simple swingarm design and chain driven, it would be easy to do, and would allow for soem more fun jumping it.

Hopefully your frame is going to be aluminum, this is going to be a heavy car, especialyl with that front and rear tractor axles, any way to cut weight would definitally help

Actually, the axles aren't as heavy as you think, and I have thought of everything, and there is no way we can make a bracket to come off of the rear axle that would be strong enough to support the engine, clutch, and axle, and if we mounted the engine inside the vehicle, whenever the axle articulated, the belt or chain would be thrown. I prefer using the belts only because they are more forgiving towards minot adjustments, and if they are tight enough, they won't slip, I hope. Belts are also pretty much maitnence free! No chain lube to put on there, and we can just use the centrifugal clutch with no modifications! Plus, we have gotten all the pulleys off the old tractor from the old drivetrain to make them interchangeable, so we can use different gear ratios. I appreciate your input, and it has brought more things to my attention, but you have to remember, we are a group of 2 idiots, and a "Lawnmower Technician," we have to follow the rule of KISS: Keep It Simple Stupid in order for this project to work. Thank you for your comments and input, I will put all the pieces all together again, motor on it's mount in its place, mock up chasss with axles and wheels and gas tank all as the3y would be on the finished vehicle and take some mock up pictures, I have some that include us in a pose with it but for my friends "Safety" I preffer not to show them, they may gang up on my and kill me. Laughing (Yeah right, a panzy and a skrony little thing beating me up pfft!)
